Nigeria’s first female Chief Justice of the Federation!! Her name is Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar. She hails from Kano state, one of the most conservative muslim states in the nation. I hear she was called to bar sometime in the 60’s (wowzer!) 

I don’t know her story but I am almost certain that there must have been a lot of ups and downs she had to overcome to get to where she is, being a woman and coming from Northern Nigeria! She is the first female lawyer from the north, the first female supreme court judge, the first female chief judge of the nation. I know there are three more firsts attached to this woman! I can’t wait to read about her work in her new postion!
